QA Analyst / Business Analyst

The QA Analyst will work closely with the technology team in ensuring the overall quality of the MyNewPlace web sites, applications and related systems. This position is an ideal opportunity for a smart, energetic individual to have a significant impact on the performance and growth of a leading online real estate business that is founded by industry veterans, well capitalized, and backed by leading Silicon Valley venture firms.

Role and Responsibilities:
1. Testing Accounting, Billing & CRM application
2. Testing and troubleshooting of web applications
3. Database data, schema, reporting & job testing
4. Business rules testing (using SQL.)

This person will specifically be responsible for:

Release testing of the web applications & stand alone applications

Extensive business rules verification, including extensive use of SQL

Test data set up

Researching and troubleshooting production issues

Depending on the interests and skill base of the individual, other areas of opportunity may be available.

As with any startup, the individual will be expected to function well in a team environment and be prepared to assist in all aspects of the business, not just their areas of primary responsibility.

Technical Environment:
The technology environment for the majority of this work is a PostgreSQL database tier backing Java web applications running on the Resin Java application server and employing Struts, Spring, iBATIS and other open source frameworks. QA automation framework is based on Java & open source technologies: JUnit, HTTPUnit, Selenium, etc.

It was founded in 2005 by members of the former senior management team of AllApartments/SpringStreet, the leading apartment search service on the internet before it was sold to HomeStore in July of 1999. The service is designed to assist apartment property owners in leasing their apartment buildings to tenants who can search for and compare available rentals on its web site. MyNewPlace is located in downtown San Francisco.

Compensation:
Regular positions will pay competitive base salary. Regular positions also include the potential for significant equity upside in the form of option grants on a four year vesting schedule is also a part of the compensation package. Please submit salary requirements.

Required Skills and Experience:
A smart, motivated, curious person with good coding skills & understanding of web technologies is what is most important.

Essential to success at this position are:

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand & verify complex and changing business rules, SQL & DB schemas.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent spoken and written English (this is a must - we have a fast paced highly collaborative environment and you need to be able to rapidly absorb new ideas and follow new directions that the collective thinking is heading in. You need to be able to champion your good ideas clearly and accept better ideas when they are presented, then clearly describe them in written specifications)

A high level of attention to detail and personal responsibility for the quality of your work

Specifically your skills and experience MUST include:

4+ years of experience as a QA analyst or Business Analyst

Experience testing Billing systems, accounting systems, CRM applications.

BS/MS CS or BS/MS MIS or equivalent

Strong working knowledge of SQL & relational database technology.

The individual must be a self-starter and able to prosper in a relatively unstructured work environment. Experience in working in a high growth environment is also desirable.
