CBS 5 JOB OPENING for a Special Projects Consumer Producer

Reports to: Executive Producer
Availability: Immediate
Hours: As assigne
Work Days: As assigned

Description of duties:

Produce and write daily topical stories of consumer interest, as well as enterprise and investigative stories.

Oversee work of consumer volunteers â€˜problem-solvingâ€™ unit.

Oversee production of weekly, 30-minute consumer show.

Responsible for story selection and editorial content.

Oversee tape editing, script writing and ordering of graphics.

Time segments with a good sense of pacing, energy and urgency.

Make editorial and content decisions in accordance with department guidelines and standards.

Efficiently supervise and effectively communicate with talent, photographers, graphic artists, interns, casuals.

Coordinate and produce written and video material for website.

Constantly monitor wires and feed sources for updated information.

Respond aggressively to breaking news.

Use all production elements accurately, consistently and creatively.

Exercise sound news judgment.

Skills / Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates should have at least 3 yearsâ€™ line-producing, segment-producing or writing experience in a major-market.

Additional previous experience as a news writer preferred.

Must possess excellent writing, production and management skills.

Experience in editing on Final Cut Pro a plus.

Newsroom computer experience essential.

Related College degree and/or equivalent preferred.

Previous consumer producing a strong plus.

Physical demands:

Must be able to sit at desk for long periods of time and operate keyboard.
